In many of today\u2019s modern vehicles, it is no longer possible to connect auxiliary lights in the \"traditional\" way, using a relay and trigger wire from the vehicle\u2019s original high beams, which was standard when cars used halogen lamps. Modern vehicles with advanced headlight systems instead require the use of a CAN-bus interface to connect aftermarket lighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The XBB Dongle\u00ae is a CAN-bus interface that stands out from other products on the market. Unlike all other solutions, no electronics are connected directly to the vehicle's internal CAN-bus network. Instead, the XBB Dongle\u00ae utilizes the information available through the vehicle's diagnostic port*.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The installation always begins by connecting your XBB Dongle\u00ae to the vehicle's diagnostic port. Using a mobile phone and our app, XBB Configurator, you then test different configurations to find one that is compatible with your specific vehicle. Once this is completed, you proceed with installing the lighting and the XBB PowerUnit\u00ae.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another advantage of the XBB Dongle\u00ae and XBB PowerUnit\u00ae is that you gain access to multiple **different signals from the vehicle, giving you the ability not only to control auxiliary lights but also, in many cases, to receive signals for DRL lighting, reverse lights, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each XBB PowerUnit\u00ae features two outputs that can be controlled entirely independently, either with two different signals or the same signal on both outputs. It is also possible to physically link both outputs to combine the power\/current that can be delivered from the XBB PowerUnit\u00ae. Output 1 can handle a load of 15 Amperes, and Output 2 can handle a load of 5 Amperes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*The diagnostic port, also known as the OBD2 port, is a connector that, according to EU legislation (EU Directive 2018:858), must be present on all cars (fossil-fuel vehicles) sold in Europe. Under the same law, vehicle manufacturers are required to provide vehicle status information via the diagnostic port so that third-party workshops can offer service and repairs. Without this legislation, you would be forced to rely exclusively on authorized brand workshops for maintenance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">**The available signals depend on which recipe is compatible with your vehicle.
